The TriBeCa Community School is founded on the theories and principles of constructivism, socialconstructivism, and the highly regarded Reggio Emilia Approach to Early Education. We believe children are born with a natural curiosity about the world, and that cultivating this curiosity with careful listening and support, is the key to successful life long learning. At the TriBeCa Community School, we seek to accomplish this by providing children with meaningful experiences for play and exploration, while nourishing their potential as individuals.

Since its inception over 40 years ago, the Reggio Emilia approach has been influencing the best schools across the US and the world, as an exemplary system of early childhood education. Consistent with this approach, our goal is to create conditions for learning that will benefit a child's "powers of thinking" by creating opportunities for self-expression and self-actualization. This is accomplished through a combination of principles and practices whose emphasis include problem-solving, collaboration, documentation of children's work, and the ongoing involvement of parents and community.

At the TriBeCa Community School, we embrace this approach because we value children's right to a quality education, that celebrates who they are, while providing the tools to support their ongoing emotional, intellectual and creative growth.
