At the TriBeCa Community School students develop a sense of self-worth based on their persistence they demonstrate reaching their goals. Our programs are designed to deepen and enrich children's encounter with the world, their community and with each other, while cultivating their self-esteem. Learning is accomplished by creating meaningful experiences that are joyful and rewarding in their own right. Long-term projects or "investigations" encourage children to probe and wonder about their environment, while forming meaningful relationships that facilitate their ongoing social and emotional growth in the process.
The surroundings also play a key role in the programs we offer. Our space is designed to provide maximum comfort and is organized to support both small and large group project work. Materials displayed alongside children's projects lend to the comfortable, home-like environment, while a central atelier (art studio) offers access to materials and supplies for inspiring and engaging children in creative projects.
Through the use of painting, sculpting, music, science, storytelling, theatre and other forms of self-expression, children are taught to give voice to their thoughts and ideas, as well as share their newfound discoveries and understandings.
